artist statement
“ Every artist dips his brush in his soul and paints his own nature into pictures.
Henry Ward Beecher
i enjoy the strong contrast between lights and shadows, and using the latter to frame my subject. this technique is my favorite when i do black and white photography. however, in my paintings i love the subtle play of warm and cool colors, and the appearance of soft and strong. i like comparing this with the play between soft and strong passages in music because such is inherently pleasing. if done just right, it could elicit from its audience a soft gasp of admiration, an ultimate compliment to any composer.
